Gameplay

Super Real Mahjong PIV, released in Japan in 1993 by Seta, offers a unique twist on the classic tabletop game of mahjong for two players. The gameplay revolves around traditional rules, but with an unusual and revealing mechanic – winning hands strips away articles of clothing from your opponent's character, while losses restore them. Players progress through a series of encounters against distinct female characters, each possessing their own strip sequences to conquer. The game features three primary opponents—Mana, Yuu, and Kaori—each with unique personalities and backstories presented through animation sequences. Successfully clearing all of an opponent’s sequences unlocks the next character, continuing the progression toward a bonus round featuring additional rivals. While players have unlimited funds for betting, losing all funds ends the game. Following victory over the initial trio, players face a challenging bonus stage with three new opponents and increased difficulty, preventing further continues once initiated. Super Real Mahjong PIV distinguishes itself from earlier entries in the series with enhanced animation quality integrated into storytelling and strip sequences, although hand animations are absent this time around.
