Speed Up is a two-player racing game released in 1996 by Gaelco that puts players behind the wheel in a competitive lap-based contest. Each racer selects one of ten available cars and then chooses from Beginner, Advanced, or Expert tracks to determine their challenge. The action unfolds with a chase-view perspective as players navigate each course, striving for the fastest time while keeping an eye on rivals displayed via an on-screen map. The game’s unique structure involves elimination; after each lap, the slowest car is removed from the race until a single victor remains. Players control their vehicle using a steering wheel and five buttons to maneuver around the track. The number of laps can vary between one and nine, adapting to the number of players participating. Notably, Speed Up marked Gaelco's introduction into three-dimensional game development, utilizing a Motorola 68000 processor for its core gameplay and an ADSP2115 processor alongside custom sound chips for audio. A PlayStation port titled "Racingroovy VS" followed in 1997.
