Super Pang (World 900914)
Mitchell • 1990
Also known as: Super Buster Bros.

In Super Pang, players use harpoon guns to pop colorful balloons that bounce around each stage, a sequel to the popular 1989 original. Controlling a character, one or two players must strategically fire upwards while moving left and right, utilizing ladders to navigate the single-screen environments. The game offers two distinct modes: Panic Mode, where players survive an endless barrage of bubbles and attempt to last as long as possible, and Tour Mode, which takes them on a journey through various global locations like Japan, Asia, Europe, and the Americas. Panic Mode features escalating difficulty as more balloons are popped, increasing speed and triggering frantic music. Special bubbles with clock or star engravings offer unique effects – popping a clock bubble temporarily halts all movement, while a star bubble clears the entire screen. Tour Mode presents forty distinct stages across different times of day, each featuring its own layout of walls, ladders, and other interactive elements. Certain actions can also grant players advantages; by holding down the joystick and pressing fire, players can force bubbles to spawn for an easy point boost in Panic Mode or quickly jump between stages in Tour Mode.
