Space Gun (World)
Taito Corporation Japan • 1990

Responding to a distress signal from a remote space station, players take on the role of members of a Search and Rescue unit in Taito’s 1990 shooter, Space Gun. Teaming up with a friend for cooperative gameplay, you'll utilize a lightgun to fend off hordes of hostile aliens who have taken colonists captive. The plasma pulse gun is your primary weapon, but you also possess four specialized grenades – fire, bomb, sword, and freeze – each offering unique tactical advantages against the alien threat. Gameplay revolves around navigating perilous environments aboard the space station and destroying waves of enemies while protecting a vulnerable cockpit. Strategic use of the special grenades is key to overcoming tougher opponents and ultimately rescuing the colonists. A time limit adds pressure, and failing to meet it will unleash an even more formidable alien foe. Space Gun was released in October 1990 and features distinctive visuals powered by Taito’s Z System hardware and a memorable soundtrack later released on a limited-edition album by Zuntata Records.
