Space Guerrilla — Gameplay
Gameplay

The city is under relentless alien assault in Space Guerrilla, a cooperative two-player shooter released by Omori Electric in 1979. As soldiers defending your home, you operate anti-aircraft tanks tasked with eliminating waves of invading spaceships before they reach the urban landscape. The gameplay presents an escalating challenge as enemy attack patterns shift and certain ships employ suicidal tactics, demanding precision and skill to survive. Players utilize eight-way joysticks and a single button for aiming and firing, working together to target various UFOs that appear on screen. Each type of alien craft is worth different points – from standard red UFOs to the rare clearly blue variant which awards a substantial bonus. Successfully destroying these threats progresses you through increasingly difficult levels in this gallery-style shooter. Space Guerrilla marked the beginning of an arcade series, with a sequel, Super Space Guerrilla, following shortly after its October 1979 debut. The game’s Zilog Z80 processor drives the action, creating a demanding and engaging experience for players seeking a test of their reflexes and coordination alongside a friend.
