Soldam
Jaleco • 1992

Soldam is a cooperative puzzle game released by Jaleco in 1992 for arcade use. Two players work together to clear falling blocks composed of various colored tiles. Using only two buttons – rotate left and rotate right – each player manipulates their respective stack, attempting to align the colors with those descending from above. Matching colors cause them to disappear, preventing the stacks from reaching the top of the screen. The gameplay revolves around careful coordination between players; misaligned blocks quickly lead to game over. The technical aspects contribute to a vibrant visual experience with 1024 available colors displayed at a resolution of 256x224 pixels within a horizontal format. A soundtrack album featuring music from the game was released shortly after its arcade debut. Designed for two players, Soldam challenges coordination and strategic thinking as players attempt to maintain control over their stacks and clear the field of ever-falling blocks.
