Gameplay

Konami’s Soccer Superstars, released in Japan in December 1994, delivers fast-paced four-player soccer action on Konami GX hardware. Players control individual athletes using an eight-way joystick and three buttons to pass, shoot, and perform other maneuvers during matches. The game features a vibrant, distinctly stylistic aesthetic with artwork contributed by numerous artists working under various creative monikers, including Strawberry and Guitar E.S. Ichiro. The gameplay focuses on quick reflexes and teamwork as players strive to score against their opponents. Matches are announced live, adding energy to the experience. Developed using a Twin System platform and led by Director Dr. Lee, Soccer Superstars provides an arcade-style soccer challenge designed for competitive play between friends. Music and sound effects were created under the direction of Zenjii Pekito and Kingoro respectively, while Petr Stone of Mickey’s Company provided the voice work for the game's announcer.
