Solar Assault (ver UAA)
Konami • 1997
Also known as: Solar Assault Revised

Piloting a powerful spacecraft, players navigate through six increasingly challenging stages in Solar Assault, a fast-paced shooter released by Konami in 1997. This chase-view game tasks you with blasting your way through waves of enemies and dodging intricate hazards as you progress deeper into an alien solar system. Distinct environments like the "River Styx," now featuring a massive planet at its base, and the darker “Abyssal Forest” offer unique visual challenges alongside new enemy placements. Solar Assault builds upon the foundation of previous Gradius titles with refined gameplay and enhanced visuals thanks to Konami’s GTI Club hardware. A new level—a fiery lava world—is introduced early on, and a mid-game boss encounter precedes the final confrontation. One notable change from earlier versions involves a revamped attack pattern for the "Speed Demon" stage boss, keeping players constantly adapting their strategies. Completing your run culminates in a special ending animation borrowed from the original Gradius, providing a satisfying conclusion to this intense arcade experience. While initially released in Japan as Solar Assault Gradius, it was simply known as Solar Assault elsewhere.
