Slither (set 1)
Century II (GDI license) • 1982

Slither is a two-player shooter and gallery game released in 1982 under license from Century II. Players control spacecraft navigating through a series of patterned screens, targeting and destroying formations of geometric shapes. The gameplay relies on precise trackball control for aiming, requiring coordination between players as they work to eliminate the on-screen targets. Two buttons are used for firing weapons during this process. The game features dual M6809 processors and utilizes Texas Instruments SN76496 sound chips for its audio. Originally appearing in arcades, a port of Slither later became available for the Colecovision console system. Slither provides a straightforward yet challenging experience centered around accurate aiming and cooperative gameplay; it represents a snapshot of early arcade shooter design from the dawn of the 1980s.
