Step into the role of Joe Musashi, a skilled ninja from the Iga clan, in Sega’s action-packed Shinobi. This side-scrolling platform fighter puts you on a mission to rescue kidnapped children from the clutches of the evil Zeed syndicate. Armed with a katana for close combat and shuriken or a pistol for ranged attacks, players battle through five increasingly challenging missions, each comprised of multiple stages filled with enemy ninjas and obstacles. Successfully rescuing all hostages in a level unlocks a bonus challenge where waves of ninjas attempt to overwhelm you; clearing this stage rewards an extra life. A powerful "Magic Attack" is available once per mission, offering a screen-clearing blast but incurring a score penalty if used, encouraging skillful play and mastery of Joe Musashi’s abilities as you progress through the game with a friend.
