Super High Impact is a fast-paced, four-player football game released by Midway in 1991 as a sequel to High Impact Football. Players take control of offensive and defensive teams, maneuvering with an eight-way joystick and a single button to execute plays. The game features recognizable music tracks from artists like Gary Glitter, the Alan Parsons Project, and Steam, adding a unique soundtrack to the on-field action. Gameplay revolves around strategic play calling and quick reflexes as players attempt to score touchdowns and prevent opponents from doing the same. Defensive strategies can be exploited with certain techniques, offering an advantage for skilled players. The game’s design team included Ed Boon, known for his later work in the Mortal Kombat series, alongside other talented individuals who contributed to both the visuals and soundtrack. Super High Impact was ported to home consoles including the Sega Mega Drive and Super Nintendo Entertainment System shortly after its arcade debut.
