Step into the shadows as a skilled ninja in Sega’s 1989 arcade action game, Shadow Dancer. Following closely on the heels of Shinobi, this side-scrolling platform fighter puts you in control of a lone warrior tasked with disarming time bombs planted across a sprawling metropolis and confronting the mastermind behind the terrorist plot. Utilizing familiar jumping and projectile attacks, players progress through challenging levels while battling waves of enemies. A unique twist on the classic formula allows for a canine companion to join the fight; pulling down on the joystick sends your loyal dog into action, providing temporary relief from enemy assaults. However, be warned – the dog is vulnerable, transforming into a puppy if injured and requiring you to defeat a certain number of foes before it returns to its full size. Shadow Dancer offers cooperative gameplay for two players ready to face the danger together. The game runs on Sega’s System 18 hardware and builds upon the foundation established by its predecessor, providing a fast-paced and engaging experience steeped in ninja action. Versions of this title were later ported to various home consoles and computers, though some editions feature altered level designs and plot elements.
