Shadow Force (World, Version 3)

Technos Japan’s Shadow Force (World, Version 3) throws players into a ninja action experience blending beat-'em-up gameplay with one-on-one fighting stages. Choose from four distinct ninjas and battle through levels to thwart the evil Dr. Wong and his organization, Theaser, who threaten global peace. Utilizing six buttons – two for punches (high and low), two for kicks (high and low), a jump button, and a unique possession ability – players can execute combos by combining attacks and strategically utilize enemy possessions to turn the tide of battle. A distinctive feature of Shadow Force is its inclusion of individual fighting challenges at the end of each stage, breaking up the traditional side-scrolling action. Players can select any of the first three stages to begin their journey, leading to one of fourteen possible endings depending on their choices and skill. Mastering the possession mechanic—allowing temporary control of enemies—adds a layer of strategic depth as players experiment with different abilities and combat styles. The game culminates in an optional final boss battle where players can choose which of two bosses to fight, offering a unique opportunity to directly confront a formidable opponent and unlock the true ending.
