Street Fighter EX2 Plus is a fighting game for two players that builds upon the previous entries in Capcom’s “EX” series. Utilizing a unique blend of 3D character models and classic Street Fighter gameplay, players select from an expanded roster including returning favorites and new combatants to battle across various stages. Matches unfold with standard fighting game controls – utilizing six buttons for light, medium, and heavy punches and kicks – allowing for strategic combinations and special moves. A variety of hidden techniques are also available to discover through specific button sequences performed near opponents. The game’s visual style distinguishes it from earlier Street Fighter titles, offering a more modern aesthetic while retaining the core gameplay feel that fans expect. Capcom partnered with Arika to develop this installment which runs on Sony ZN-2 hardware, providing a distinct technical foundation for the experience. While initially released in Japan in 1999, its European release followed shortly after. Beyond straightforward matches, players can uncover special moves and techniques by executing precise inputs in specific locations near their opponents, adding an extra layer of discovery to mastering each character’s potential. A soundtrack album was later released featuring the game's music.
