Super Football Champ (Ver 2.5O)
Taito • 1995

Taito’s Super Football Champ delivers fast-paced two-player soccer action on Taito FX-1A hardware. Released in arcades in 1996, players control their team using an eight-way joystick and buttons to pass, shoot, and tackle opponents across the field. The game features a straightforward premise: score more goals than your rival to win the match. Developed with a focus on responsive controls and quick gameplay, Super Football Champ offers a simple but engaging experience for soccer fans. Two players face off directly, each maneuvering their team through a side-view perspective. The game’s sound is driven by both an SPU chip and a Zilog Z80 processor alongside a YM2610B chip to create the audio landscape of stadium cheers and in-game effects. While initially developed in 1995, Super Football Champ later saw release on the Sony PlayStation console.
