Gameplay

A rampaging Mad Shogun has disrupted the flow of time, and it’s up to players to restore order across different historical periods in Sengoku 2. This 1993 fighting game from SNK blends traditional side-scrolling action with a unique 2.5D perspective, allowing characters to move along the Z-axis. Players select their warrior and battle through various eras, armed with swords and other weaponry, to confront the Shogun’s destructive power. Combat in Sengoku 2 is straightforward but engaging; using an eight-way joystick for movement, players can attack, jump, or change their fighting style on foot. The game also features mounted combat, where attacks are tailored to horseback engagements. Two players can face off against each other, testing their skills and mastery of the different character’s movesets. Running on SNK's Neo-Geo MVS hardware, Sengoku 2 is a direct sequel to the original Sengoku Densyo, building upon its foundation with updated graphics and expanded gameplay elements. It was initially released in Japan as Sengoku Denshou 2 before being known internationally simply as Sengoku 2.
