Gameplay

Konami’s Scooter Shooter, released in 1985, puts two players in control of futuristic scooters navigating a vertical game space. Using an eight-way joystick and a single button for firing, players maneuver their vehicles to destroy waves of approaching enemies. The game features vibrant graphics with a palette of 256 colors displayed on a 224 x 256 pixel resolution screen that refreshes at 60 Hz. The gameplay is focused on precision and coordination as players work together to clear the screen of incoming threats. A Zilog Z80 processor handles sound, accompanied by an YM2203 chip for audio output; the main game logic runs on a Motorola M6809 CPU at 3.072 MHz. The cooperative nature of Scooter Shooter and its fast-paced action provide a unique arcade experience for two players simultaneously.
