Gameplay

Space Chaser is a frantic two-player maze game released by Taito in 1979. Players pilot rockets through increasingly challenging mazes, collecting points by gathering dots scattered throughout each level. The catch? Another rocket relentlessly pursues you, creating a high-pressure race against collision. Successful navigation of one maze leads to the next, offering practice that some might find surprisingly applicable to navigating busy city streets. The gameplay emphasizes both speed and precision as players use a joystick to maneuver their rockets while avoiding the pursuing missile. Strategic boosts are essential for clearing later levels and escaping danger. A cocktail version was also released, known in Japan as "T.T Space Chaser," providing an alternative playing configuration. Scoring is based on the level number multiplied by ten points per dot collected, with levels looping from one to nine. Clever players can exploit a trick to start with extra ships or even bypass early levels for a more intense challenge.
