Valadon Automation’s Super Bagman, released in 1984, is a vertical screen platform game designed for two players simultaneously. As diminutive figures resembling bags, players navigate a series of interconnected screens, leaping over obstacles and enemies while collecting items scattered throughout the levels. Movement relies on a four-way joystick, and button presses allow for jumping—a crucial mechanic for avoiding hazards and reaching higher platforms. The game's visuals utilize a palette of 64 colors to depict the environments and characters within its 224x256 pixel resolution. The gameplay loop involves progressing through each level, encountering increasingly challenging arrangements of platforms and adversaries. Super Bagman builds upon earlier installments in the Bagman series, offering cooperative play as players attempt to reach the end of each stage together. Powered by a Zilog Z80 processor and sound chips from General Instrument and TMS, this arcade game presents a straightforward but engaging run-and-jump experience for up to two participants. Licensed to Stern for distribution in the United States, Super Bagman was first released in April 1984.
