Pilots take to the skies in Sauro, a two-player horizontal shooter released by Tecfri in 1987. Players control aircraft and maneuver across the screen using eight-way joysticks, battling against waves of enemies while attempting to survive increasingly challenging levels. The game’s vibrant visuals utilize a palette of over one thousand colors within a resolution of 240x224 pixels, presented on a horizontally oriented display refreshed at 60 frames per second. The soundtrack is delivered through an integrated YM3812 sound chip alongside two Zilog Z80 processors powering both the game’s logic and audio. Teamwork is key as players coordinate their attacks to overcome obstacles and defeat adversaries. Sauro provides a cooperative experience for two simultaneous participants, demanding skill and communication to progress. Developed by Javier Valero, Josep Quingles, and Luis Jonama, this arcade title offers a straightforward but engaging gameplay loop centered around aerial combat. Two buttons are assigned per player for control options during the action.
