Step into the vibrant world of Rod-Land, a cooperative platformer for two players from Jaleco released in 1990. As Tam and Rit, fairy sisters on a quest to rescue their mother, you’ll navigate challenging levels filled with colorful flowers and mischievous enemies. Armed with magical rods capable of capturing foes and launching them across the screen, your mission involves clearing each level entirely before progressing toward Maboots Tower. A unique mechanic allows players to create temporary magical ladders, reminiscent of Rainbow Islands, enabling access to higher platforms or quick escapes – though only one ladder can exist at a time. Collecting all the flowers on a stage unlocks an "Extra Game" mode where enemies move faster and drop letters needed to spell “EXTRA” for a valuable bonus life. What makes Rod-Land especially intriguing is its built-in sequel, accessible after completing the initial game. This second episode features altered graphics and enemy designs while maintaining identical gameplay – unlockable via a simple button sequence at the title screen.
