Rock Tris
Yun Sung • 1994?

Rock Tris is a two-player puzzle game released circa 1994 by Yun Sung. Drawing inspiration from the earlier Taiwanese PC title "X Rock," this arcade cabinet challenges players to strategically manipulate falling blocks composed of rock shapes. Using an eight-way joystick and two buttons, each player independently rotates and positions these formations to create complete lines across a shared playfield. The gameplay revolves around careful planning and anticipating your opponent’s moves; clearing lines prevents the stack from reaching the top, while also potentially setting up opportunities for your own scoring combinations. As the game progresses, the speed of falling blocks increases, demanding quick reflexes and precise placement to avoid a frustrating game over. Rock Tris features sound generated by an integrated YM3812 and OKI MSM5205 chip set, adding auditory feedback to the fast-paced puzzle action. It’s designed for competitive play between two individuals, offering a direct head-to-head puzzling experience.
