Robotron: 2084 (Solid Blue label)
Williams / Vid Kidz • 1982

In Robotron: 2084, players assume the role of a lone human resisting a robot uprising in a dystopian future. Utilizing a unique dual joystick control system – one for movement and another for aiming – you must navigate a constantly shifting screen filled with enemy robots, static obstacles called electrodes, and vulnerable human families needing rescue. Each wave presents escalating challenges as new robot types emerge, requiring quick reflexes and strategic planning to survive and protect the remaining humans from conversion into hostile forces. The game’s relentless action centers around destroying waves of diverse robotic enemies, each possessing unique attack patterns and behaviors. From basic Grunts to hulking Hulks and Brain units that launch missiles and reprogram captured humans, survival depends on swiftly eliminating threats while dodging deadly electrodes. Rescuing human families grants points, but also introduces risk as these individuals become targets for the encroaching robot menace. Robotron: 2084 offers a frantic, single-player experience, demanding precision and adaptability to overcome its escalating intensity. The blue label version features a slightly higher default score and easier starting difficulty than earlier versions of the game.
