Real Mahjong Haihai (Japan, newer)

Experience an authentic recreation of the classic tabletop game with Real Mahjong Haihai, released in Japan by Alba in 1985. This two-player arcade title delivers a genuine mahjong experience for those familiar with the traditional rules and strategies. Players face off against each other, strategically matching tiles to create sets and ultimately clear their hand before their opponent does. The game’s title itself translates from Japanese as "Real Mahjong Tile-Tile," reflecting its commitment to accurate gameplay. Utilizing a Zilog Z80 processor and sound chips from General Instrument and OKI, Real Mahjong Haihai provides an engaging auditory backdrop to the tile-matching challenge. It marked the beginning of a series that would continue with subsequent installments in 1986. This arcade version offers a unique opportunity to engage with mahjong within a public setting, presenting a faithful adaptation for two players seeking a test of skill and strategy.
