Redline Racer (2 players)
Cinematronics (Tradewest license) • 1987

Redline Racer is an overhead racing game for two players, released in 1987 by Cinematronics under license from Tradewest. Players compete against each other on sixteen distinct race tracks using a dial control to steer their vehicles. The goal is straightforward: navigate the course as quickly as possible while impeding your opponent’s progress. The game provides a top-down perspective, allowing players to view the entire track layout and anticipate turns and obstacles. While it didn't achieve widespread popularity in arcades at the time of release, Redline Racer would later influence the design of another racing title, Ivan Stewart’s Super Off-Road. Designed by John Morgan, with graphics from Jerry Huber and Kevin Lydy, this two-player game utilizes a unique combination of processors to handle gameplay and sound.
