Recalhorn (Ver 1.42J 1994/5/11, prototype)
Taito Corporation • 1994

Recalhorn is a cooperative platform game from Taito released in 1994, built on their F3 hardware. Players control a boy equipped with a magical horn and must navigate scrolling side-scrolling stages to rescue various helper animals. Once rescued, these creatures can be summoned using coins to aid the player; each animal possesses unique abilities that prove essential for overcoming obstacles and progressing through the levels. The game supports up to four players simultaneously, allowing for shared challenges and cooperative gameplay utilizing an eight-way joystick and four buttons per player. Despite its complete and enjoyable gameplay, Recalhorn remained a prototype and was ultimately unreleased after arcade testing. A unique quirk of the game's programming prevents players from entering "SEX" on the high score table, automatically replacing it with “AAA”. A limited edition soundtrack album featuring music from Recalhorn was released by Zuntata Record in 2000, marking a rare acknowledgement of this otherwise obscure arcade title.
