Gameplay

Players control a paddle at the bottom of the screen in Reaktor, a one-player ball and paddle game released by Zilec in 1987. The goal is to use the paddle to deflect a bouncing ball upwards, breaking progressively arranged blocks across the playfield. As the ball ascends, it becomes increasingly difficult to manage, requiring precise timing and reflexes to avoid losing a life. Reaktor's gameplay takes direct inspiration from classic Breakout titles; however, the game features a variety of block patterns and speeds that change as the player advances through levels. The Zilog Z80 processors power both the visuals and sound effects delivered by integrated DAC and SN76496 chips alongside a Sanyo VLM5030 audio processor. With its vibrant palette of thirty-two colors, Reaktor offers a visually engaging experience as players strive to clear each stage and progress further into the game's challenges.
