Gameplay

Radical Radial is a two-player vertical shooter released in 1982 that puts you in control of a tire navigating a uniquely structured series of challenges. Each stage unfolds in three distinct segments; first, dodge rock formations and bat-like enemies while jumping to avoid attacks. Next, take to the road as a vehicle, skillfully dodging cars, ambulances, and other hazards while collecting point bonuses. The final section is a bonus round where you collect points amongst oil slicks, with no loss of lives if you are hit. The gameplay blends elements of driving and shooting, requiring precise movements and timing to survive the escalating difficulty. Throughout the game, players can pick up items worth 300 points or earn substantial bonuses by clearing strings of enemies or collecting all point pickups in the bonus stage. A recognizable cover version of "I Was Made for Lovin' You" by KISS plays during the road-driving section. Radical Radial is an infinitely replayable game, rewarding skillful play with a final time bonus and offering only one extra life throughout the entire experience. The Zilog Z80 processor powers this unusual arcade title, delivering a distinctive challenge to shooter fans.
