Quiz King of Fighters (SAM-080 ~ SAH-080)
Saurus (SNK license) • 1995

Quiz King of Fighters is a two-player quiz game released in 1995 by Saurus, operating under license from SNK and utilizing the Neo-Geo MVS hardware. Players select from six characters drawn from three popular SNK fighting franchises: Art of Fighting, Fatal Fury - King of Fighters, and Samurai Shodown. Each character represents two fighters; Ryo Sakazaki and Robert Garcia, Terry Bogard and Mai Shiranui, and Haohmaru and Nakoruru. The gameplay involves answering questions in Japanese, presumably related to the SNK universe. As players progress through the quiz rounds using an eight-way joystick and four buttons, they encounter other characters from those series who may hinder their progress. The overarching narrative centers around saving Yuri Sakazaki, tying the disparate fighting game worlds together within this unique trivia challenge. A Korean version of the game was later released in 1996 on the Korean market. A Neo-Geo CD port followed shortly after its arcade debut.
