Q*bert (US set 1)
Gottlieb • 1982
Also known as: Mello Yello Q*bert, Q*bert Board Input Test Rom

Hop across a pyramid of cubes in Gottlieb’s Qbert, a frantic and colorful platform game for two players. Your goal is to change all the cubes on screen to a designated color by landing on them diagonally – but beware, a single misstep sends Qbert tumbling from the structure! Initially, you'll need to dodge bouncing red and purple balls that descend across the pyramid, while also contending with the persistent pursuit of Coily, a snake spawned from the purple spheres. As levels progress, new challenges emerge: green characters award points, while Ugg and Wrong Way obstruct your path, moving erratically along the cube faces. Later rounds introduce Slick and Sam, who can alter previously colored cubes, forcing you to re-strategize on the fly. The color-changing rules themselves become increasingly complex as well, demanding precise movements and careful planning to succeed. With its quirky character design, unique gameplay mechanics, and escalating difficulty, Qbert offers a consistently engaging experience for players looking for a fast-paced, challenging arcade adventure.
