Puzzle De Pon!
Visco • 1995

Visco’s Puzzle de Pon! challenges players to clear stages by strategically dropping colored blocks. Using an 8-way joystick, you aim and fire balls at a field of descending puzzle pieces; when enough matching colors connect, they disappear, preventing the stack from reaching the top. Two players can compete head-to-head, racing against the clock to complete each stage and advance through the game's thirty-nine levels. The game’s progression is marked by milestones where specific zodiac signs are earned—Aries at level three, Taurus at six, and so on—culminating in a final challenge represented by the sun. Puzzle de Pon! runs on SNK’s Neo-Geo MVS hardware, utilizing a Motorola 68000 processor for gameplay and a Yamaha YM2610 sound chip to create its soundtrack. Released in November 1995, this arcade title was not ported to the home Neo-Geo AES system. The game’s simple control scheme—a single button to fire—belies the increasing complexity of the stage designs, demanding precision and quick thinking for success.
