Puyo Puyo (World)
Compile / Sega • 1992

Players in Puyo Puyo manipulate falling clusters of colored "Puyos" to create chains of four or more identical colors and clear them from the playing field. This addictive puzzle game for two players introduces a competitive element; successfully clearing Puyos sends unwanted, transparent “junk” Puyos to your opponent’s area, hindering their progress. These junk pieces must be cleared by forming chains nearby. Originally released in arcades in 1992, Puyo Puyo was developed by Compile and published by Sega on its System C-2 hardware, utilizing an 8-way joystick and a single button for gameplay.
