Gameplay

Pushman is a two-player maze escape game released in Korea by Comad in 1990. Players control characters who must navigate complex labyrinths by pushing blocks and crates to create pathways and reach the exit. The gameplay involves strategic manipulation of the environment, as blocked routes require careful planning and precise movements using an eight-way joystick for each player. The game presents a challenging experience with its intricate level designs and the need for coordinated teamwork in two-player mode. Music from Jaleco’s Psychic 5 is incorporated into Pushman's attract sequence and stage completion fanfare, lending a familiar sonic texture to the gameplay. With only five thousand units produced, Pushman offers a glimpse into a lesser-known corner of arcade game development. Featuring a Motorola 68000 main CPU and Yamaha YM2203 sound chips, this title provides distinct audio and visual elements within its maze escape framework. The creative team included director Ann Kyu Sik and music composer Kim Hyung Sum among others.
