Gameplay

Step into the surreal world of Radishland in PuLiRuLa, a 1991 beat-'em-up from Taito that defies easy categorization. Players take on the role of warriors tasked with restoring order to this dreamlike realm after a mysterious thief steals vital keys that control its time flow. Progressing through six distinct towns, you'll battle waves of bizarre creatures and abstract enemies using a magical stick for melee combat. The gameplay revolves around navigating sideways-scrolling stages while dispatching foes, punctuated by the occasional use of unique smart bombs – visual spectacles like herds of animals or peculiar dancing figures that clear the screen with chaotic flair. Defeating these strange adversaries often releases trapped townsfolk or creatures from within them, adding a layer of unexpected detail to the action. PuLiRuLa supports two players cooperatively and runs on Taito's F2 system hardware, offering a distinctive visual style and unusual enemies that set it apart from more conventional fighting games.
