Pop'n Pop (Ver 2.07O 1998/02/09)
Taito Corporation • 1997

Pop'n Pop is a unique puzzle game where players launch balloons upwards to clear the screen. Using an eight-way joystick and buttons, you control a character who releases balloons of various colors; matching three or more balloons of the same color causes them to pop, progressing you through each round. A variety of bosses appear, presenting challenges that require strategic balloon placement and timing. The game features multiple play modes including single-player puzzle challenges against the computer, versus matches against another player, and solo battles against the CPU. The characters themselves are drawn from a selection of previous Taito titles, bringing familiar faces like Bubby&Bobby and Sayo&Miki to this balloon-popping experience. Pop'n Pop runs on Taito’s F3 system hardware, and an unusual quirk prevents players from entering "SEX" as their initials on the high score table – they will be automatically changed to “AAA.” A US version of the game includes a "Winners Don't Use Drugs" screen.
