Step into the quirky world of Pooyan, a unique 1982 shooter from Konami where you defend adorable piglets from hungry wolves! As a pig suspended in a winch-controlled cage, your task is to shoot balloons carrying wolves before they reach the ground – otherwise, those wolves will climb and attempt to bite you. Successfully eliminating the wolf threat advances the game, but failure results in captured piglets and escalating difficulty. The gameplay evolves as you progress, with later levels featuring wolves ascending on balloons towards a cliff face that can trigger a boulder avalanche if overwhelmed. A bonus round provides an opportunity for extra points by strategically tossing meat to eliminate large groups of wolves riding on balloons. Pooyan offers cooperative play for two players, adding to the fun and challenge of this unusual arcade experience. The game's soundtrack is delightfully unexpected, incorporating melodies like "The Other Day I Met a Bear" and Dvorak’s “Humoresque” into its gameplay loop, creating a memorable audio backdrop to this charmingly bizarre pig-themed adventure.
