Pnickies (Japan 940608)
Capcom • 1994

Capcom’s Pnickies, released in Japan in 1994, is a cooperative puzzle game for two players. Using eight-way joysticks and two buttons each, players manipulate falling blocks – playfully shaped like tiny creatures – to strategically arrange them within designated areas at the bottom of the screen. Successful placement earns points, while letting blocks pile up results in a game over. The gameplay revolves around careful coordination between both players; communication is key as they must anticipate and react to each other’s movements to avoid filling the playfield. Scoring increases dramatically with larger sets of correctly placed blocks. Running on Capcom's CP System hardware, Pnickies represents the company’s twenty-ninth game for that platform and offers a simple yet engaging challenge best enjoyed as a shared experience.
