Hot-B’s Play Girls 2, released in 1993, is a vertical screen shooter designed for two players. Utilizing Taito L System hardware, this gallery-style game challenges players to navigate through vibrant stages while battling enemies with projectile attacks. The gameplay involves controlling characters and maneuvering them using an eight-way joystick to dodge obstacles and defeat opponents presented within a 224x320 pixel resolution. The game features a palette of 256 colors and is accompanied by sound produced from a YM2203 chip running at 3 MHz, creating a distinct audio atmosphere. Play Girls 2 builds upon the foundation of its predecessor, Play Girls, offering a cooperative experience where players work together to progress through increasingly challenging levels. Two buttons provide input for controlling the characters and their actions within each stage. The development team included project leader Yamaguchi alongside programmers Y. Hirasawa and Y. Satoh, and designers such as R. Kinoshita and Watashi, contributing to both the game’s visuals and programming.
