Play Girls — Gameplay
Gameplay

Hot-B’s Play Girls arrived in arcades in 1992 and offers a fast-paced two-player ball and paddle experience reminiscent of Breakout. Players control paddles positioned at the bottom of a vertical screen, working to deflect a bouncing ball upwards against formations of blocks. The game's visual style is decidedly mature, catering to an adult audience. Two players can compete simultaneously, adding a layer of challenge as both attempt to clear the blocks while hindering their opponent’s progress. Play Girls utilizes Taito L System hardware and features a Zilog Z80 processor alongside a YM2203 sound chip for audio. The game's resolution is 224 x 320 pixels with a color palette of 256 colors, displayed at a refresh rate of 60 Hz. A direct sequel, Play Girls 2, followed in 1993. A computer port was also released for IBM PC systems around the same time as the arcade version.
