Gameplay

Photo Y2K is a cooperative puzzle game released in 1999 by IGS for four players. The gameplay centers around manipulating images displayed on the screen to achieve specific objectives; players work together to arrange and alter photographic elements presented within the game's visuals. Featuring multiple versions, including version 105 documented here, Photo Y2K was part of a series that would later include Photo Y2K 2. The game’s visual style is driven by the artistic contributions of Leo Chou, Gun, and Wang Bing, while music and sound effects were created by Eddie Yao and Dean. Behind the project stood executive producer Ming-Der Tsai and director Chin, alongside programmers Fred Liao and Zhan-Hong Chou. The Motorola 68000 processor powered the game's main functions, complemented by a Zilog Z80 and ICS2115 sound chips to deliver its audio experience. Released in June of 1999, Photo Y2K offers a unique collaborative experience focused on image manipulation and puzzle-solving for up to four participants.
