Pepper II (version 8)
Exidy • 1982

Exidy’s Pepper II challenges players to navigate a series of interconnected mazes in this unique maze/outline game released in 1982. Controlling an angelic figure named Pepper, the objective is to completely fill each maze by outlining its segments with a “zipper” trail. Backtracking over incomplete sections will undo your progress, adding a layer of strategy as you work toward completing all four mazes on a level before advancing. Gameplay introduces two distinct hazards: Roaming Eyes that can be consumed for points when Pepper is energized, and the Whippersnapper which actively unzips previously completed segments. Players can temporarily transform Pepper into a devil by enclosing an area containing a pitchfork energizer, allowing them to eliminate roaming eyes and freeze the Whippersnapper. A deluxe energizer in each maze cycles between a pitchfork and a halo; collecting the halo while zipping will banish the Whippersnapper entirely from that maze. Points are awarded for filling segments, collecting prizes hidden within the mazes, completing individual mazes, and ultimately finishing all four on a level. Bonus turns are granted at specific point milestones, encouraging skillful play and strategic route planning to maximize scoring potential in this single-player arcade challenge.
