Pocket Gal (Japan)
Data East Corporation • 1987
Also known as: Pocket Gal 2, Super Pool III

Pocket Gal is a two-player sports game released in Japan by Data East Corporation in 1987. Players take on the role of attractive female characters competing in a pool (billiards) simulation. Using an eight-way joystick and buttons to control their cues, players aim to sink balls and outmaneuver their opponent across the felt table. The game's visual style features detailed character sprites and vibrant colors within a 256x224 pixel resolution. The game utilizes multiple sound chips – including YM2203, YM3812, and OKI MSM5205 – to create its audio experience. Outside of Japan, Pocket Gal was distributed under the title "Super Pool III." A later installment in the series, Pocket Gal Deluxe, followed in 1992. Programmers R. Minagawa and Shinichi, alongside designer Kinta58000, contributed to this title’s creation, along with a team of artists and sound designers including Hitomi Komatsu and Yoshida Hiroaki (MARO).
