Puzzle Bobble 4 (Ver 2.04O 1997/12/19)
Taito Corporation • 1997

Puzzle Bobble 4 challenges players to clear the screen by strategically launching colored bubbles towards clusters already in play. By matching three or more bubbles of the same color, they burst and disappear, working to eliminate all the bubbles before they reach the bottom of the screen. Up to four players can join in on the bubble-popping action, creating a frantic and colorful competitive experience. Released internationally in December 1997, this installment in Taito’s popular puzzle series runs on the F3 system hardware and features straightforward controls utilizing an eight-way joystick. A unique quirk within the game prevents players from entering the letters "SEX" on the high score table; any attempt to do so will automatically change the entry to “AAA.” The arcade version of Puzzle Bobble 4 also includes special screens featuring messages promoting responsible behavior, such as encouraging recycling and discouraging drug use. It joins a long line of titles in the Puzzle Bobble franchise known for its simple yet addictive gameplay.
