Gameplay

Pac-Mania is a two-player maze chase game released in North America by Atari in 1987 under license from Namco. Players control Pac-Man as he navigates themed worlds – Block Town, Pac-Man's Park, and Sandbox Land – collecting pellets while being pursued by colorful ghosts. A unique feature of this version allows players to select which world they’d like to begin with, offering varying levels of difficulty; Sandbox Land presents the greatest challenge. This export version includes a top ten high score list where players can enter their initials for recognition. The game features nineteen distinct stages, fewer than found in the original Japanese release. Visual differences include alterations to level design and item placement compared to the Namco original, as well as the addition of Pac-Man, Pinky, and Blinky circling around the logo. Beyond the arcade, Pac-Mania has been ported to numerous platforms over the years, including systems like the NES, Sega Genesis, PlayStation, Xbox, GameCube, Wii, and mobile devices. These versions carry on the classic gameplay experience of navigating mazes, collecting rewards, and evading relentless pursuit.
