Gameplay

A cooperative puzzle game for two players, Orbs challenges you to manipulate colored blocks across a grid in order to match them and clear the screen. Developed by American Sammy and appearing as a prototype in October of 1994, the gameplay revolves around sliding rows and columns of these orbs – each with its own distinct hue – into strategic formations. The goal is to create matching color patterns that will cause those blocks to disappear, preventing the grid from filling up entirely. The game’s design team included Onijust as Game Designer & Director, alongside programmers, graphic designers, and sound creators contributing to the overall experience. As you and your partner work together, careful planning and coordination are key to success. The difficulty steadily increases, demanding increasingly complex strategies to manage the ever-growing number of orbs on screen. Orbs offers a simple yet engaging challenge that rewards teamwork and spatial reasoning.
