N-Sub (upright)
Sega • 1980

Navigate the depths in Sega’s N-Sub, a single-player shooter released in December 1980. As the pilot of a miniature submarine, your task is to maneuver through an underwater environment using an eight-way joystick and two buttons for actions. The game presents a gallery-style shooting experience where you encounter various obstacles and targets within the aquatic setting. The gameplay involves carefully piloting your submersible, avoiding hazards while strategically engaging enemies or points of interest that appear on screen. Utilizing the controls at your disposal, you must skillfully guide N-Sub through each level to progress. The game runs on a Zilog Z80 processor and was originally released as an upright arcade cabinet. A later version of N-Sub appeared on the Sega SG-1000 console in 1988, bringing this underwater challenge to home systems.
