Ninja Spirit is a two-player fighting game released in 1988 by Irem. Originally developed in Japan as Saigo no Nindou, this version represents an export release bringing its action to arcades worldwide. Players control ninja warriors battling through a series of stages, engaging opponents in close-quarters combat with punches, kicks, and jumping attacks. The gameplay focuses on mastering basic martial arts maneuvers while anticipating enemy movements. As players advance, they face increasingly challenging adversaries requiring precise timing and strategic use of the available moveset. Versions of this title were later ported to various home computers throughout Europe, as well as the TurboGrafx-16 console in North America. A collection including Ninja Spirit was subsequently released digitally for PC and Macintosh platforms nearly three decades after its original arcade debut, allowing a new audience to experience Irem’s martial arts offering.
