NBA Showtime NBA on NBC (ver 2.0, Apr 25 1999)

NBA Showtime NBA on NBC brings the high-flying excitement of professional basketball to the arcade with over-the-top action and a vibrant presentation tied to NBC’s broadcast coverage of the league. Up to four players can team up or compete in head-to-head matches featuring recognizable NBA teams and stars of the era, all while enjoying dynamic commentary echoing the style of classic television broadcasts. Gameplay emphasizes flashy dunks, steals, and assists alongside more traditional basketball moves—all delivered with a fast pace and exaggerated animations. Beyond standard exhibition and tournament modes, players can unlock secret characters like Frankenstein’s Monster and The Wolfman by entering specific codes at the start screen, adding an element of discovery to the experience. A variety of visual customizations, from alternate uniforms to weather effects like snow or rain, are also accessible through code entry, allowing for a personalized arcade basketball experience. Built on Midway's Vegas hardware, NBA Showtime NBA on NBC builds upon the legacy of previous games in the Jam series while incorporating elements specifically designed to capture the feel and presentation of an actual televised NBA game. Ports were later released for Nintendo 64, PlayStation, Dreamcast, and Game Boy Color.
