Gameplay

Players cooperate in Naname de Magic!, an Atlus puzzle game released in Japan in 1994. The gameplay centers around strategically dropping blocks to create lines and clear them from the playfield. Two players control their own sides of the screen, working together to prevent the stack of blocks from reaching the top. Simple controls—an eight-way joystick and a single button—allow for precise block placement and rotation as players aim to eliminate sections of the growing pile. The game’s vibrant graphics are complemented by music composed by Yanda and Okibe. Designed by Boo Ueda and programmed by Tuohi, Naname de Magic! presents a straightforward but engaging challenge requiring coordination and foresight. Outside of Japan, it is known as “Diagonal Magic.” This two-player arcade title utilizes a Motorola 68000 processor and an OKI6295 sound chip to deliver its puzzle experience. Graphics were created by Sio, Takashima, and Nabe.
