Gameplay

Konami’s Mystic Warriors, released in 1993, throws up to four players into a frantic side-scrolling battle against the oppressive organization known as SKULL. Players choose from five distinct ninja warriors tasked with liberating the world and dismantling SKULL's reign of terror. The gameplay blends platforming action with close-quarters combat and ranged attacks; characters wield both swords for melee engagements and shuriken for striking enemies at a distance. Each level presents a series of challenges culminating in a boss encounter, and scattered throughout are breakable boxes containing helpful power-ups like invulnerability shields or weapon enhancements, alongside point bonuses. While selecting their warrior, players will witness one character being captured by SKULL, adding urgency to the mission. The game features eight distinct stages offering escalating difficulties and varied enemy types. A unique touch within Mystic Warriors is the unexpected appearance of an attract mode sequence from another Konami arcade title during Stage 1. This cooperative fighting experience provides a vibrant and fast-paced action for up to four players simultaneously, utilizing a straightforward control scheme with an eight-way joystick and two buttons for jumping and attacking.
